Description:

This is a highly clinical fellowship divided into bariatric and advanced laparoscopic and robotic surgery. Fellows are exposed to advanced laparoscopic and robotic foregut, colorectal surgery and urological cases for both cancer and benign diseases. Fellows are involved in all aspects of patient care and manangement.

Fellows are expected to present their research at regional and national meetings.The faculty continues to be very active in clinical research and regularly present at the major General Surgery/MIS annual conferences (i.e., SAGES, DDW/SSAT, ACS, SLS, ASMBS).

    We accept graduates of U.S. or Canadian Medical Schools and Foreign Medical Schools
    We accept graduates of Foreign Medical Schools only if ECFMG Certified

Examinations and Certifications:

    Applicants must have passed the USMLE/COMLEX Step 1, 2, & 3 exams
    Applicants must have passed the USMLE/COMLEX Step 1 & 2 exams or the Medical Council of Canada Evaluation Exam (MCCEE)
    Applicants must have had at least 2 years of prior training in an ACGME accredited residency or fellowship (or Canadian equivalent)
    Applicants who are ABS or Canadian Board Eligible or Certified
    Applicants must have had at least 2 years of prior training in an AOA (American Osteopathic Association) accredited residency or fellowship
    Applicants must be AOBS (American Osteopathic Board of Surgery) eligible or certified

    Fellows take at home call during the week for bariatric surgery and for any inpatients whose surgery they performed.

Clinical Outpatient Experience

The fellow attends clinic once or twice per week and has the opportunity to evaluate and examine new patients, preoperative patients, and postoperative patients. 

Research/Scholarship Resources

The fellow is encouraged to attend and present at national conferences.  The fellow has the support of multiple faculty members who are involved in clinical resaarch.  There are bimonthly surgical research meetings led by our Director of Surgical Research.
