Description:
The Department of Hepatobiliary and Pancreas Surgery at Miami Cancer Institute provides advanced surgical care to patients with hepatopancreatobiliary (HPB) and foregut diseases. Our program has a strong emphasis on minimally invasive approaches, including advanced laparoscopic and robotic operations. Faculty members are renowned surgeons in minimally invasive HPB surgery with decades of academic and clinical experience.
The HPB fellowship at Miami Cancer Institute provides trainees with a wide breadth of exposure to HPB diseases and their surgical treatments. Fellows are furthermore exposed to other pathologies within surgical oncology, including neoplasms of the stomach, small bowel, spleen, adrenal glands, and other organ systems. Ongoing academic participation is strongly encouraged, with dedicated institutional support for research projects.
Miami Cancer Institute looks to train fellows that are enthusiastic about mastering the technical and conceptual challenges inherent to HPB surgery. The program encourages innovative thinking alongside a steadfast dedication to meeting the needs of the patients. Fellows are expected to become proficient minimally invasive HPB surgeons and to be poised for leadership in the field.
