Fellowship Position-Advanced GI MIS, Bariatrics, Complex Gastrointestinal Surgery

NYU Langone Health-Grossman School of Medicine has an open fellowship position, beginning 8/1/23. The program will expose the Fellow to all aspects of laparoscopic and endoscopic procedures, including but not limited to: lap biliary/pancreatic surgery; lap gastric surgery(gastric sleeve, gastric RYGB); lap esophageal surgery; lap bowel surgery; lap hernia surgery. The fellow will rotate to three sites during the course of their training, for four months each: NYU Langone Health Manhattan Campus, Bellevue Hospital Center and NYU Langone Brooklyn Hospital. Robotic surgery is available at all three sites.
Teaching opportunities will be a part of training with the Fellow responsible for developing lectures and teaching the surgical resident staff and medical students. Participation in research activities is encouraged and submissions of papers for publication and development of posters and presentations for national and international meetings, is expected. The Fellow will be required to attend the national SAGES meeting and other national and international meetings to gain exposure to the laparoscopic community and become aware of the new developments, technology and instruments. The Fellow will receive didactic instructions in order to develop full understanding of the diagnosis, preoperative evaluation, procedure,and postoperative care and follow-up of patients.
Candidates must have successfully completed at least 5 years of general surgery training from an accredited program in the USA or at least five years of surgical training in a non-US accredited residency program and be ECFMG certified.
